1940s Selfridges duffle coat, extra large, beautiful

This is a particarly nice coat, a variation on the classic duffel or duffle coat, made from 'shoddy' wool, which is essentially wool that was recycled as part of the war effort, which along with the label matched with wartime adverts would indicate 1940s manufacturing. The wool has small black flecks in it, traces of the wool it was recycled from, and although considered rough at the time is actually really good quality. There are buttons on the chest and under the collar that suggest a hood or cape was once attached, but no longer is. It's showing its age a bit with fraying at the pockets and cuffs and marks here and there and one of the rope loops is a replacement. Arguably this is how an 80 year old coat should look and in our opinion is quite beautiful and with many years of wear left in it.
