1955 dated British Railways workers trousers, fishtail back circa 36 waist

A beautiful pair of wiool trousers, conveniently dated inside to 1955 and made by J Compton, Sons and Webb, whose label partially survives. They don't appear to have been worn although there are signs that they've had something removed as there is a little fraying at the waist where braces attach. This is only very minor and doesn't affect the appearance. They are high waisted with a fishtail back and buttons for braces and button fly. They are approximately 36" waist, measuring 18" a cross where the waist should sit, with an inside leg of 31, but given the style this is equivalent to being a little longer and as they take braces can easily be worn by some a little smaller in the waist. A rare survivor in superb condition.
