Rare 1950s Belstaff Trialmaster jacket and trousers, with very rare wool liner, medium
A very rare Belstaff Trialmaster jacket and trousers from the 1950s, with the original and even rarer removable wool liner. This was the earlier and best incarnation of the Trialmaster, sporting the chequered flag label to all three garments. The jacket is in excellent condition with fully working original brass Lightning zipper, with a decent wax coating, soft cord collar and no stains or tears to the lining. The jacket sports a Greeves patch to the right chest pocket, one of the leading names in British trials riding in the 50s and 60s. There are two repairs, one to the front left lower pocket and one elbow, both in leather and very well done. Otherwise in nice wearable condition, very presentable with a pleasing patina. There is no size tag but the liner is tagged 40" so reasonable to assume the jacket is too, but please see measurements. The liner is in perfect condition and attaches and detaches with Newey studs very nicely. The trousers are very good too without holes or stains and all original zips, studs and buckles present and working nicely. Tagged 30" waist but elasticated and feel more like a 32-36, measuring 16" side to side when slack and stretching to 19". Inside leg is 28.5" but in reality will fit a longer leg, and the outer leg is 39". The liners very rarely survive and fetch £200 on their own, so this represents a very rare opportunity to acquire a period but very wearable and versatile Belstaff suit.
